The Tamil film, directed by actor-choreographer-director Lawrence is yet to hit the theatres, but that hasn’t stopped him from making plans of taking it to Bollywood.Says Lawrence, “I have plans to direct Salman in the Hindi remake of Kanchana. I’m in talks with the actor and I should be making an announcement well within two weeks.” Kanchana is a sequel to Lawrence’s earlier box office success Muni. The film, which is all set to hit theatres on July 14, has Lakshmi Rai and Sarathkumar in important roles. Since Sarath plays a transgender in the flick, and we wonder which B-towner will be brave enough to essay that role.

South Indian Actor Manjula Vijayakumar Passes Away-Newsmasthi.com

CHENNAI: Actor Manjula Vijayakumar, who acted in more than a hundred films in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada, died on Tuesday morning. She was 59 and is survived by her husband and actor Vijayakumar and three daughters, Vanitha, Preetha and Sridevi.

Doctors at Sri Ramachandra Medical College hospital, where she was admitted last Wednesday after a fall, said the actress died following renal failure.

"Her whole family was with her when she died," said actor Arun Vijay, her stepson from Vijayakumar's first marriage.

"She lost consciousness this morning," he added.

Actor Khushboo, a close friend of the family, was present by Manjula's bedside when she breathed her last. "She was the most beautiful soul. I will never forget her. She was instrumental for my marriage. I remember I had gone to her house for a New Year party to ring in the millennium. Sundar and I were not married then. In fact, we had broken up. But we had gone to the party together. She smeared some kumkumum on my forehead and said we would be married in three months," said Khushboo.

"Sundar and I got married in the following March. Manjulamma has been part of our lives all these years," she added.

Director KS Ravikumar, who cast Manjula in his five Tamil movies, said the reason why he had chosen her was not just because she was a great performer but also because he was her fan.

"She was large-hearted," said Ravikumar. He said the actress presented him with a gold dollar from a chain she was wearing as soon as she had seen his movie 'Sakthivel' (1994), in which she had a supporting role. "She detached the gold pendant, which had a picture of Lord Venkateswara on it, and just handed it to me saying she loved the movie," said Ravikumar.

Born on September 9, 1953, Manjula made her debut in Gemini Ganesan-starrer 'Shanthi Nilayam' (1969), but the movie that shot her to fame was 'Rickshawkaran'(1971), starring MGR. She continued to bag lead roles till the late 70s and then appeared in supporting roles.

Manjula performed with legends like late Sivaji Ganesan, Gemini Ganesan and M G Ramachandran as well as present stars like Kamal Hassan and Rajinikanth. She essayed memorable roles in Tamil movies like 'Ulagam Sutrum Valiban,' (1974), 'Ninaithathai Mudippavan' (1975), 'Anbe Aaruyire' (1975) and 'Shankar Salim Simon' (1978).

Her famous Telugu movies include 'Jai Jawan' (1970), 'Mayadari Malligadu' (1973), 'Alluri Seetarama Raju' (1974), 'Gunavanthudu' (1975) and 'Vaasu' (2002).

The cremation is scheduled for Wednesday morning.

The rumours about Gabbar Singh 2 have been doing the rounds in the film nagar, ever since Pawan Kalyan's Gabbar Singh got an overwhelming opening at the Box Office. The latest we hear is that the sequel is ready to go on floor, but landed in the title problem as the makers of Sholay, Sippys are said to be seeking 10-15 times of the amount they charged for the title of Gabbar Singh. Ramesh Sippy has trademarked Sholay and all its iconic characters. Tollywood producer Bandla Ganesh Babu had earlier paid Rs 25 lakhs to use the name Gabbar Singh for his Blockbuster movie starring Pawan Kalyan and Shruti Hassan in leads. Now, the producers of Sholay are reportedly demanding Rs 3 to 4 crores for the title of Gabbar Singh 2. Gabbar Singh has become all time highest grosser movie in Tollywood. With its producers and Pawan Kalyan planning Gabbar Singh 2, Ramesh Sippy's children Rohan and Sheena, who are handling his business, have jacked up the price by 10 to 15 times for the title of its sequel, an English daily quotes a source as saying. Now, the production house is reportedly in a dilemma. A source from the team claim that they are no longer ready to shell out such a hefty sum for just a title. They will definitely look at the possibility of an alternative title for the sequel. The source further hints that Bengal Tiger is one of the titles being considered for the upcoming film.

His Iron Man alter ego Tony Stark is a billionaire as well as a superhero.
And it seems actor Robert Downey Jr is fast following in his character's rich footsteps.
The 48-year-old actor has been named the highest earning Hollywood actor in the past year, raking in a cool $75 million between June 2012 and 2013.
And the star certainly seems to have earned his salary.
According to Forbes magazine, Downey Jr has starred in six movies that have each grossed more than $500 million at the worldwide box office over the past year. 
Iron Man 3 and ensemble action movie The Avengers each earned more than $1billion and The Avengers is the third grossing film of all time. 
Forbes's report states that Downey Jr was the 'only indispensable actor' on the Avengers which co-starred Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L Jackson, Chris Hemsworth and Jeremy Renner.
'As long as he's willing to keep putting on the Iron Man suit, Downey will remain one of Hollywood's highest-paid actors,' writes Forbes's Dorothy Pomerantz.

Downey Jr's pay packet for The Avengers was reported to be more than his co-stars, with the actor having secured a percentage of the box office profits.

He will also be paid handsomely for the Avengers sequel which will start filming next February.
His recent successes have been something or a  turnaround for Downey Jr who was arrested numerous times on drug related charges in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

The first Iron Man film was released back in 2008 and earned $585 million worldwide with the franchise bringing in nearly $2.5 billion overall according to Forbes.
Downey is followed on the list by up and coming star Channing Tatum who earned an estimated $60million, making it into second place.
The heart-throb actor teamed up with director Steven Soderbergh to self finance hit movie Magic Mike -  meaning profits did not have to be shared with the studio when the film brought in an estimated $167 million at the U.S. box office.

The rest of the story is all about, how he takes revenge on the people who  provoked him and made him kill bhavani shankar. The story includes deceiving each other, killing, with some out most  and unexpected twists.

Analysis: A complete out and out action film with great technical values. The movie is a non-linear narrative which may confuse the audience. But mentioning 'Present' and 'past' clearly made audience to  grasp the scenes very easily.  In the first half, Director established with a bit sentiment and then turned out into action suddenly. Bollywood News-Salman Khan Hit And Run Case Adjourned Till July 24-Newsmasthi.com

A sessions court in Mumbai on Friday adjourned till July 24 further hearing in the 2002 hit-and-run case involving Bollywood actor Salman Khan.

The actor along with some of his family members attended the hearing in person as per the court's earlier directives.

The court, which last month held that a case was made out to invoke the stringent Indian Penal Code Section 304 (III) against the actor, is expected to deliver its ruling in conducting a retrial.

The fresh charge under IPC Section 304 (III), which pertains to culpable homicide not amounting to murder, could attract a 10-year jail term.

Earlier, Salman Khan had been tried by a metropolitan magistrate under the less severe charges of IPC 304A, relating to rash and negligent driving which stipulated a maximum sentence of two years in prison.

However, the metropolitan magistrate, after examining 17 witnesses in the case, had invoked the more serious charge under Section 304 (III) of the IPC against the actor.

The court has two options before it: either to conduct a fresh trial or continue the existing case with the additional stringent charges. The court is expected to give its ruling on this at the next hearing.

During Friday's hearing, Salman Khan was sitting in the visitors' area, but was later summoned to stand in the box meant for accused.

One person was killed and four others were injured when a Land Cruiser allegedly driven by Salman Khan in an inebriated state ran over a group of footpath dwellers in Mumbai's Bandra suburb in the early hours of Sep 28, 2002.
